6:00-6:45 – Making the Most of Your Year
Do you often feel like you are always trying to play catch up? Our panel of past competitors and parents will help you make a plan for success for the upcoming season. We will explore creating goals with students, parents, and clubs.
7:00-7:45 – Novice Speaking
When starting speech and debate as a novice it can be nerve wracking. You are in a new environment, doing a new activity, with new people. But guess what, you’re not alone. There are always new people at tournaments and for everyone else competing, it was their first tournament at one point in time as well. Our panel will talk about some things to expect when going into your novice year as a competitor and hopefully will be able to help you in building friendships, improving in competition, and glorifying God in the process.
8:00-8:45 – Leveling Up Your Limited Prep
Hear from National Champions and past competitors on how they mastered Limited Prep. Learn what your students can be doing this summer to get ahead of the game.
Saturday
9:00 – 9:45 – Speaking from a Biblical Worldview
Why does speaking from a Biblical Worldview matter? Does that just mean slapping a Bible verse on our speeches? Our panel will explore how we need to use the Bible in everything we do, including Speech and Debate.
10:00-10:45 – Starting/Running A Club
Running and/or starting a club can be difficult, yet rewarding. Learn from club leaders- what they have done and what they do to keep their clubs running and growing.
11:00-12:45 – TP/LD Resolution Analysis
We will be covering both NCFCA and Stoa Resolutions. We hope to help both students and coaches wrap their brains around the resolutions, as well how to prepare for debate in the summer, to not be overwhelmed.
1:00-1:45 – Summer Apologetics Prep
Students typically feel apprehensive about starting Apologetics. Come learn why and how this can be the perfect place to start.
2:00 – 2:45 – Parental Support
Parents often feel like they are swept into a vortex when they start out in Speech and Debate. We we cover how to support your beginning or advanced students, as well as tips to help guide your students.
3:00 – 3:45 – Mars Hill Impromtu
Exploring your Christian faith and culture through a speech event like Mars Hill, needed its own session. Join Isabelle Clausen as she addresses what is Mars Hill, why everyone should do it (even if you don’t compete in it), how to make your binder notes, as well as providing an outline for an impactful Mars Hill speech.
