Description:
Perfect for students new to Team Policy debate or looking to strengthen their foundation, this two-half-day camp introduces the core skills needed to succeed in competitive debate. Students will learn the fundamentals of argumentation and refutation, develop confidence in speech construction, and practice strategic thinking in rounds.
Topics include:
● Fundamentals of argumentation and refutation
● Basics of affirmative case construction
● Introduction to the yearly resolution
● Introduction to negative strategy
● Disadvantages and stock issues
● Basic rebuttal and clash techniques
The camp emphasizes hands-on learning through guided skill drills,mini-debates, and collaborative exercises. Students will actively apply concepts in real debate scenarios rather than simply listening to lectures, helping them build confidence and practical experience from day one.
This camp is designed to provide a strong, accessible introduction to Team Policy debate in a supportive and engaging environment.
