Stoa and NCFCA Fall 2021 Apologetics Club with Sarah Fox and Jonathan Marsalis
When: Fall Semester, Monday evenings 8:00pm ET, starts the week after Labor Day
Cost: $100 members/$125 nonmembers

If God is holy, why is there evil in the world? Is the Bible a reliable historical document? What is the meaning of God’s sovereignty?

What could be a better use of your time than finding answers to these questions and learning to communicate graciously with those who ask them? Maybe you’ve privately wondered about some of these topics yourself. God isn’t shocked by our questions – so come dig in deep with a group of engaged, enthusiastic peers to explore worldview issues and biblical truth together!

NCFCA and Stoa’s apologetics questions are intimidating at first glance, but they don’t need to be! By grouping similar topics and working collaboratively to find relevant sources, quotes, and Bible verses, this highly interactive club will cover approximately two-thirds of both leagues’ topics in just 10 weeks. Required homework will take about 1.5 hours/week. Students will finish the semester with an organized box of research, greater skill creating effective speeches, and a deeper relationship with God and new friends. This is going to be a fun and engaging way to tackle Apologetics together weekly first semester.

Bios –

Sarah Fox’s three years of Apologetics Club were one of her favorite parts of speech and debate. Through them she grew in her love for the Lord, knowledge of the Scripture, and understanding of its defense. She enjoys engaging with others in theological discussions. Her Apologetics awards include 3 tournament wins and placing twice at the NCFCA National Championship. She has also placed nationally in impromptu and holds 14 multistate tournament wins (Extemporaneous, Impromptu, Persuasive, and Team Policy Debate). Sarah received Iron Man awards at the NCFCA National Championship and two Regional Championships. Currently, she is majoring in American government at Patrick Henry College.

Jonathan Marsalis competed in NCFCA for five years. Throughout his speech and debate career, he has competed in 10 forms of speech and 4 forms of debate, qualifying to national championships in Stoa, NCFCA, and Coolidge in multiple categories. His awards include national open and regional championship wins in Team Policy Debate, Expository Speech, and Digital Presentation, as well as national championship placements in Lincoln Douglas Debate. If there is one thing Jonathan has learned during his speech and debate career it is this: There is no award or goal that any person could strive for that is more important than promoting truth, doing everything to the best of your ability, and giving everything to the glory of God. Jonathan is currently enrolled at Patrick Henry College and is studying Strategic Intelligence and National Security.
