Apol Club with Ethan Tong
When: TBD
Cost: TBD
Description
Ethan Tong, a former regional champion in Apol and current intern pastor at a Baptist Church in Marlin, TX, will be leading another semester of Apol club! This club will blow your mind. Instead of opting for the easy, predictable answers to prompts, we encourage students to dive deeper into theology and present the difficult subjects. We’re not interested in straw-manning atheists––we’re interested in reckoning with the real arguments and demonstrating the truth of Christianity even in spite of the best opposition. Each session will challenge, encourage, and grow even the most knowledgeable of students––or parents!
We know that development is not just about delivery and practice speeches, but about knowledge and content. So each session takes a topic that you have heard many times and tries to go deeper––what have we missed? What do most apol speeches fail to mention when they discuss this topic? There is opportunity for practice, but the bulk of our time is spent in lecture and discussion. We’ve found that’s the most helpful. Students routinely express how much their understanding of their faith has grown as a result of this club.
