Description:
Join us for an evening all about Moot Court! It’s a low-commitment, low-cost opportunity to learn about what Moot Court is, how much time preparation will take, and what this year’s packet looks like.

We’ll be doing sessions on the federal court system, the basics of Moot, answering questions well, cracking open this year’s packet for the first time, and preparations during the year.

The camp is geared towards people who have never had an official introduction to Moot (i.e., never been to a camp). If you’ve competed before, but never had instruction on how to do it, this camp is for you. Or, if you’re brand new or just wanting to check it out––this camp is for you! And if you have been to a Blackstone/Lasting Impact! camp before, you are still invited––but we recommend you attend one of our other online camps that are geared toward advanced competitors.

Instructor:
Ethan Tong (’19 alumnus) qualified to Nationals in Moot Court both years he competed, earning an 8th place Oral Advocate award at the 2019 National Championship. He and his partner were the top seed at the 2019 Dallas National Mixer, at which he won a 2nd place Oral Advocate award. He and his partner also placed 2nd at the Illinois National Mixer that same year.

In the last three years, Ethan has qualified fifteen Moot Court teams to the National Championship, with his teams placing 7th, 5th, 2nd (twice) and 1st. Four of his private students have won 1st place Oral Advocate awards throughout the year, and 9 of them have won top 6 Oral Advocate awards at Nationals. Additionally, he co-authored NCFCA’s 2023-2024 Moot Court packet.

Ethan graduated from Hillsdale College, where he garnered outstanding attorney and outstanding witness awards in Mock Trial. Currently, he is pursuing a Master’s of Divinity at Truett Theological Seminary.
