Description:

Over the course of two days, Noah McKay will introduce students to intermediate and advanced concepts and skills in Lincoln Douglas debate. Topics to be covered include the following:

1. Debate and the virtues of civil discourse
2. How to make good arguments (including intro to informal logic)
3. Case structure
4. Introduction to moral and political philosophy
5. Introduction to the resolution
6. Advanced research strategies (including how to read philosophy)
7. Advanced cross-examination techniques
8. Rebuttal

Sessions will incorporate both lectures and activities. Students will have the opportunity to develop their own case outlines that they will use during drills on Day 2.
