After a perfectly normal first half of the year, moving into the school year should be a smooth transition and create a great environment for civilly discussing modern events. Kidding. Totally kidding. The last six months have been almost wholly unprecedented in the sheer amount of geopolitical movement in a small amount of time. And for the extemporaneous speaker, that creates an equally unique environment to study current events in. Political polarization is seemingly at an all-time high so one question becomes all the more important in today’s cultural moment. How on earth do we determine truth? One news station says on thing, my relative on Facebook says another, and lawmakers in DC say something completely different. In this class, we’ll be working out how to answer that question by asking another: What is a proper Biblical framework for determining truth? Eric Meinerding will be guiding students through a ten week course of alternating skill development and cultural conversation classes. Where one week, students may be grappling with scriptural and policy analysis of the politics of Burma, and the next they’ll be learning how to properly craft a 45 second introduction and roadmap. The world right now is confusing, speaking clearly about the world is all the more important. This class will equip students with the toolkit necessary to have those conversations.
