This creativity course fills in the gaps that many English curriculums leave. To think critically, effectively communicate, problem-solve, and experience life more fully, students must look through a new and wider lens.
This course teaches how to look further and deeper, synthesize and organize observations, grow and utilize imaginations, and then translate findings into words (both written and spoken).
During this course, students will participate in group discussions (and even dramatizations). They will learn to engage the imagination and express creative thinking all while taking an extra dose of formal English language and literature instruction.
Within this course, we will cover:
- short reading assignments
- observation activities
- themes in fiction
- narrative craft
- character psychology/analysis
- literary terms and devices
- and more
- active listening
- online capabilities/email address
- some sort of journal (even homespun)
- writing utensil
- odds and ends
